5. Right-click on “Time” dimension and click on Properties.
6. Go to the “Time” tab and disable “Current period” option and click OK.
Note: the reason for disabling this option to avoid creation multiple unwanted categories which are really not required for reporting.
The next step is to identify
measures and drop it in Measures window.
So, we are done with the modeling of all the available objects. The next step is to validate the model to check for any issues. Go to the Tools menu and click on Check Model.
If the model is validated
successfully, check the scope relationships to see how the measures are
associated with each level in the hierarchy. Right-click inside Dimension Map
and click on Show Scope.
Check the scope by selecting a measure column form the drop-down dox.
The orange color indicates that the measure QTY is directly associated with all the levels in each dimension.
The next step is to generate Categories to see how the levels are created in each hierarchy. Go to the Run menu and click on Generate Categories.
Once the Categories are created, you can verify them by using Diagram à Categories option.
After generating categories, you are ready to build a PowerCube and publish it to Cognos Reporting environment.
1. Right-click inside
PowerCubes window and click on Insert PowerCube
2. Give some name to the PowerCube and click OK.
3. Right-click on the created
cube and click on Create Selected PowerCube.
Once the cube is created, you will get the following message
4. Again right-click on the cube and click on Publish PowerCube as Data Source and Package.
5. Once the Cube and Package are published, you will get the following message.
