Grouping, Aggregate, List Header, String Variable in Cognos Report Studio

Open Report Studio and create a simple list report with the following columns

Select Product Line and Product Type columns --> Click on Group By icon

 

Select Revenue column --> click on Total from Summary

 

Now, report created sub-totals for Product Line and Product Type and Grand Total for the overall report. Run  the report and see the results.

 

Select Product Line column and click on Create Header

 

 

Run the report and see the results

Go to Variables and create a new String Variable with the following expression.

 

Go back to the report page --> hover on explorer bar and click on variable value 'Poor' --> select Revenue column in the list --> assign variable String1 and set the Background Color to RED

Similarly, do it for the remaining two values and change the background colors to Yellow for 'Good' and Green for 'Excellent' --> run the report to see the results
