Saving Report Outputs to File Folder Location in Cognos

a. Open Cognos Configuration and click on Content Manager in the right-hand side. Enable Save report outputs to a file system to True as shown below.


b. Go to the Actions menu, click on Edit Global Configuration.



c. Go to General tab and specify the path the folder where you want to store the reports.




Note: When setting the Archive Location File System Root in Cognos Configuration it is also possible to use UNC names such as File://\\servername\mydirectory given that the user account used to start the IBM Cognos service has the appropriate permission to write to that location.


d. Restart the Cognos Services.



Note: In order to avoid overwriting existing files, it is recommended to write report outputs to sub folders in this root location.

e. Launch Cognos Administration and click on Configuration Tab. Select Dispatchers and Services. Click on Define File System Locations as shown below.


f. Click on New and specify the sub folder name as shown below.




g. Within Cognos Connection, navigate to the report path you want to run and click on Run with options. Select Save the report radio button and click on advanced options. Enable Save the file system check box and click on Edit the options. 

h. Set the options of as shown below. 


i. Run the Report and check the output in the specified directory location.
