When you publish your model to
the Cognos Content Store, you can specify how many versions of the model you
want to keep available in the Content Store for the use of IBM Cognos BI.
Model versioning is a handy facility that enables you to publish a new version of
the model without worrying about breaking existing reports. Reports and other
content are written against the latest version of the model at the time that
content is created. If changes to the model are published subsequently, the
existing reports will continue to reference the version against which they were
created, as long as that version exists. If that version is removed, the
existing reports will try to run against the latest model version, which may or
may not work.
Note: To see which existing reports are impacted by changes to your
model, select your package in the Project Viewer tree and then
choose Actions --> Package --> Analyze Publish Impact. Framework Manager will look
at the existing content based on that package and will tell you what content you
need to check.
